I got my propaganda, I got revisionism.
This is just a quick post to essentially toot my own horn a bit. The poem I submitted for Poem of the Month at Kwantlen got picked (!!!!!) and now it's up on the bullentin boards across the campuses. Yay me. Here's a link to a pic of my copy of the poster, and here's the poem if you don't want to read the poster:
Rough Terms
Pressed between us,
a knife
was held by our embrace.
I thought I wanted to free it
and taste its sharpness,
maybe test its resolve
but when I reached
it was gone.
And with it you showed me,
all your practice
using phrases and words,
you separated candle from wick
and my flesh pooled
like wax
to your flame.
All the embraces
where the knife stood
dressed in the shadows
of our clothes, melted
and I left nothing
but a tired knife
a small flame
and regret.
