Man up, Sit down, Chin up, Pipe down, Socks up, Don't cry, Drink up, Just lie

Ok nothing like 3am sad and angry crying in bed. *Sweet guitar solo*

I had a dream where I was thinking about another real dream I used to have when I was a teen. My Dad and this guy that used to live with my family for a while were making fun of me and mocking me until I cried. And when I begged my Dad to stop, he wouldn't listen and would just continue to laugh at me along with this guy.

Doesn't that suck? Does it mean anything? Who gives a flying fuck?

And now for something completely different: Why would you want to deposit in a bank where there is a very real possibility all your money could just be seized at any time?

Doesn't that suck? Does it mean anything? Who gives a flying fuck?

Ok enough personal bullshit. Let's talk about different bullshit we all can get behind.

This probably isn't going to age well, but The Gillette Ad. What a time in history.

I'm blogging my phone so I'm going to be more concise than I probably otherwise would be.  (EDIT: I’m on a compy now, so I’ve cleaned this up a bit). Except for my disclaimer-y preambles. Always gotta have my wordy preambles.

Toxic masculinity is a phrase I wish I had earlier in life. I hate it. Not the words, what the words mean, obvs. I have such a chip on my shoulder about It, I’m irrationally bugged that I’ve gone to a place called “The Man Cave” for my past two fast, cheap and decent haircuts. I hate that I am supporting an institution that simply “seems” to support a “kind of” idea even it is only thinly skinned marketing. Gah.

Thought the Gillette ad is mostly about bullying, I want to talk about sexuality. They are related. It's 2019, and despite it being the best time it's ever been to be LGBTQ+, "us men" are still largely socialized to see "gay" as the worst thing you could be. You HAVE to reject it to be a man. It HAS to REPULSE you, and you MUST reject it violently. The quicker you resort to violence to defend yourself the better. God forbid you hesitate, only a secretly gay dude would hesitate. You aren't gay, are you????

No one talks about how important the rejection of attraction to the same sex is to the straight sexual identity.  It's not simply about who you like, it’s just as much about who you are explicitly not into. Well, maybe not exactly the same: it seems like lesbian experimentation is at least tolerated in greater society. Meh, whatever, it’s all driven by toxic masculinity anyway: Straight dudes are into watching girls go at each other, but this experimentation does NOT apply to men.  This male homophobia even extends to otherwise "sexually liberated" groups. I've read that in Swingers Clubs, male/male play is strongly discouraged, if not outright prohibited. Buuuuuuuut: "It's totally cool if the girls wanna mess around though. Heh heh heh. 😉😉😉." Ugh, gross I feel so dirty even writing that.

I've talked about this before with a few friends, but I think that's why the bi/pan identity is so hard for the general public to wrap their heads around. Straight/gay sexualities all have implicit gender exclusion as part of their lived experience, if not explicitly stated. A straight person can wrap their heads around gay, just flip the genders that are attracted/excluded, the dichotomy is the same, so life goes on. In this context, bi/pan is truly something alien. Add a/all gender(s) to attraction and drop the exclusion. "What the fuck? Are bi/pans attracted to EVERYONE??" Obviously not, are all people of the opposite sex attractive to straight people?  Put more simply, bi/pan is just not gender limited. The only governing factor is attraction.

…But you CAN’T be GAY. We're circling back now. Toxic Masculinity demands absolute strict adherence, all deviance is to be punished with collective ridicule and violence.

All that shit can fuck right off.

Welp, maybe time to try to get a little more sleep. I'll edit this shit later. (EDIT: Edited later, thanks Past-Austin.)
